DR. R.K. DHIMAN


Dr R K Dhiman is director of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow. Dhiman had completed his graduation and postgraduation in medicine from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow, in 1983 and 1987 respectively. He obtained his doctorate in gastroenterology from SGPGI in 1991.He has been working at the hepatology department of PGIMER, Chandigarh, since 1993.He is an internationally recognized hepatologist. He is instrumental in starting the Hepatitis C Control Program (Mukh-Mantri Punjab Hepatitis C Relief Fund and Injection Safety Project) successfully in Punjab. Currently working towards the elimination of viral hepatitis from India. The Union government had launched the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program (NVHCP) on 28 July, 2018, with the provision of free diagnosis and treatment for viral hepatitis through the National Health Mission, and is the Chairperson of NVHCP’s technical resource group.
